First Year Housing

Ready to sign up for housing?

The best advice we can give you is to USE A COMPUTER AND NOT YOUR PHONE! The portal is not mobile-friendly so you'll want have something other than a phone when you sign in.

You will log in with your HC credentials, select the First Year application, sign that application, answer one required question about an emergency contact and be offered some roommate-matching questions (optional but highly recommended) and that's the end of the application.

Your priority number for hall selection is based upon when you signed your completed housing application so please take care of that as soon as possible.  Roommate matching can happen afterwards - submit your application!

Here's the process flow:

ROOMMATE MATCHING QUESTIONS

DONE WITH THE CONTRACT!

We'll send an copy of the contract to your HC email - your signed version is attached to your Housing Portal file.

Your hall preference priority number will be based upon the timestamp of when you completed your contract so well done!

If you'd like to look for a roommate, you can participate in the Roommate Matching process (see below) - if not, we'll match you up!

Halls and Rooms will be assigned by the Housing Office and final assignments shared in early July.

ROOMMATE MATCHING

Once you've signed your housing contract, you're added to the roommate pool and can search for roommates - only students who have completed their contracts can match with a roommate - if you're looking for someone and don't see them, chances are they've not yet submitted their contract! Keep checking back!

CLICK BEGIN SEARCH AND YOU'LL SEE RELEVANT RESULTS - TRY BY HALL PREFERENCE OR ACTIVITY... NARROW IT DOWN FROM THERE!

REMEMBER! As incoming students complete their applications, they're added to the roommate matching pool - so keep checking back! If you don't want to use the roommate match option, we'll do that for you. Final hall and room assignments will be shared in July - priority hall assignments will be given based upon the order in which you completed your housing contract - not based upon when you matched with a roommate!

MICROFRIDGE AND BED LOFTING - USE YOUR HC CREDENTIALS TO ACCESS THESE FORMS

As private microwaves and refrigerators are not allowed in residence halls, you are able to rent a combo microfridge unit (one per room) for $200/academic year. Please use this form to sign up - supplies are limited.

Bed lofting is different from bunking beds - for liability reasons, if you wish to have your bed lofted (placed upon a frame allowing living space underneath) you need to let us know via this form - the cost is $100/academic year.

MEAL PLANS

As all First Year students are required to live in residence halls, you will be auto-assigned our new All-Access 19 meal/week meal plan. No need to sign up - we'll take care of that for you. For students commuting from home, you have several new commuter plan options - see details here and contact the Housing Office (housing@hastings.edu) to sign up.
