Housing Selection - Start Here
Housing Selection 2025-2026: What You Need to Know
Get ready for housing selection! We've made some exciting changes this year based on student feedback to make the process easier and less stressful.
Simplified Applications: Returning students will use one of two applications:
Gender Inclusive Housing Application: For all Gender Inclusive Placements.
Returning Student Housing Application: For all other housing options (residence halls, BVA apartments).
Key Improvements:
Easy Application: Only your emergency contact information is required - all other questions are optional (and no insurance info required!)
Flexible Room Selection: No more pre-matched roommates needed to choose a room. Select any available space you're eligible for. Priority suite assignments in the apartments will be given to those groups who fill a suite first.
Housing Options:
Sophomores: Residence halls and BVA 6-person apartments.
Juniors/Seniors: Residence halls, BVA 4-person, and 6-person apartments.
REMEMBER - your roommate doesn't affect your eligibility into a space!
Currently all Altman hall rooms are reserved for incoming FY students as well as several in Bronc and Taylor. As the incoming class numbers are finalized, those FY holds may be released (like we did last year) into the Room Selection Process for returning students to select! Keep checking back if you wanted a residence hall option but aren't finding them once the portal opens.
Gender Inclusive Housing: Available in 2nd floor Babcock and select BVA 4 and 6-person apartments. These communities are designed to be inclusive of all gender identities - please note the shared bathrooms when signing up.
Extended Room Change Period: The Room Change Process (to switch rooms) is open weekly until the end of May, giving you plenty of time to find the perfect fit. We'll also be releasing additional beds to returners as the incoming class numbers come in.
BVA Apartment Assignments: Due to construction, BVA apartment selections will initially be for "placeholder" suites (BVA 4S or BVA 6S). Final assignments to specific buildings and floors will be made in June. Select early and fill your suites for priority placements in renovated buildings and on lower floors!
Microfridges and Bed Lofting - those services are no longer a part of the housing selection contract - you sign up for them through this site - see the Forms and Applications page or the links on the front page.
Important Dates:
Rising Juniors/Seniors*: Portal opens Wednesday, February 12th at 12:30 PM. ( * will be Juniors/Seniors in Fall of 2025)
Rising Sophomores*: Portal opens Wednesday, February 19th at 12:30 PM. ( * will be Sophomores in Fall of 2025)
Incoming First-Year Students: Separate application and portal access begins March 12th.
What's Still the Same:
3-Year Campus Residency Requirement.
Phased portal access is based on years at HC, not academic credits.
Roommate matching is still available but not required.
Taylor is all female, Bronc is all male, Altman is FY housing, Babcock 1st floor is all female, 3rd floor is all male and 2nd floor is Gender Inclusive. Additional gender inclusive options are available in both the BVA 4 and 6-person suites (eligibility rules still apply) and all Gender Inclusive housing is visible after filling out the Gender Inclusive Housing Application. McKay is not available for selection.
Summer housing applications open March 19th.
Tips for Success:
Use a desktop or laptop computer – the portal is not mobile-friendly.
Plan ahead and understand the process before the portal opens - read the documentation on this website - there are screenshots!
If you have a roommate you want to live with next year, coordinate and log in together - skip the roommate match and find a room you both can book into. Check the hall rosters if you're still without a roommate or need a suite-mate! Skip the room type filters - you'll see them all easily in the scroll.
