Housing Process
Ready to sign up for housing?
It's helpful to know what awaits you in the Housing Portal so that you know what is needed and feel comfortable about the process.
In very broad terms, you will log in, select an application, sign that application, answer one required question about an emergency contact and be offered some roommate-matching questions (optional) and that's the end of the application.
Application Done!
Roommate or Room Selection - You'll then go back to the side navigation and either select a roommate OR select a room - and you don't have to 'fill the room or suite' to select it - we'll do consolidations for you later on. If you go to the roommate selection and match, you can then select a room and it will place both of you.Â
Room Selection Done!
If you sign your contract and want to wait to check out hall and suite rosters before choosing a room - that's fine! The room selection process will stay open until April - plenty of time!
Finally, if you're a Junior or Senior living in the apartments, you can choose a meal plan. Everyone else (all FY, Sophomores and anyone living in residence halls) will be assigned the All Access Plan - we'll do that for you - no need to do it in the portal.
Meal Plan Done!
And - assuming you want to change your selection, each week you'll be eligible to do a room change where you'll go back into the Room selection process and look for and select a different room. Â

What housing can I select?Â
Returning students can select from both residence hall and apartment placements. For returning students, you are eligible (depending on gender) to live in Taylor (all female,) Bronc (all male) or Babcock (first floor female, third floor male.) Additionally, sophomores are eligible for BVA 6-person suites and juniors/seniors are eligible for BVA 4-person suites. The suite gender is set by the first person to reserve a room in that suite.Â
We have Gender Inclusive housing options on Babcock 2nd floor and BVA 6-person (sophomore/junior/senior) and BVA 4-person (junior/senior) placements - you must have filled out a Gender Inclusive housing application to see those placements.
All returning students are eligible for residence hall placements - your ability to select a BVA apartment will depend on your class status (see above!)

Welcome to Hastings College’s 2025-26 Housing - Self Service Portal
You are beginning the RETURNING STUDENT HOUSING SELECTION PROCESS WITH THIS APPLICATION. If you wish to select Gender Inclusive housing, please use the Gender Inclusive Housing Application instead.
**Important Information to Note**
Hastings College has a three year or six semester on-campus housing requirement.
All students living in the residence halls, regardless of class year, are required to purchase an All Access meal plan. Students living in the residence halls are not eligible for commuter plans.
Sophomores are eligible for residence halls and BVA 6-person apartments. Juniors and Seniors are eligible for residence halls and both BVA 4 and 6 person apartments.
Apartments will be selected without buildings or floors because of construction timing and placement into actual buildings and floors will be done with priority (renovated and lower floor assignments) given to earliest filled suites. BVA 4S are the 4-person suites, BVA 6S are the 6-person suites.
You are able to select a room on your own - however, we will be consolidating doubles into doubles, and filling suites once housing closes. Please participate in the weekly room change process to self-consolidate or understand we will be consolidating if you don't.
Instructions
The first step in selecting housing is for you to complete the following Returning Student Housing Application. You will not be able to view available spaces until you have completed this application.
Once this application is completed, you will be able to see available rooms.
Next, you will need to decide if your top priority is to live in a specific room or to live with a specific roommate.
Room Preference - If your top priority is to live in a specific room, click on Room/Roommate Selection, Select a Room/Suite. From here, you will be able to view available rooms and beds and you have the ability to choose a room and bed. The remaining bed (for doubles or suites) stays eligible for others to choose. There is no longer the requirement to fill an entire room.
Roommate Preference - If your top priority is to live with a specific roommate, click Room/Roommate Selection, Select Roommates. It is important to note that you will not be able to find a specific roommate for Gender Inclusive housing options until they have also completed the correlating Gender Inclusive Housing application. Once you have selected and matched with this roommate, you can then find and select a specific room. Once both you and your roommate select a bed in the same room, the system will place you together into a room (assuming there are two open beds.)
After completing your housing, you will then select a Dining Plan. If you chose a residence hall room, you will be automatically assigned the All Access plan – you don’t need to make that selection. If you are eligible for another plan (junior/senior status living in BVA) you can make that selection. To do so, return to the Home screen and click on Dining Plan, Dining Plans. If you wish to view more information on each specific dining plan and eligibility, please visit the ourHC Housing site.
NEXT STEP - CHOOSE ROOMMATE OR ROOM! -Â
With no requirement to match in the system before selecting rooms, if you have a room preference, start with room selection first and get a bed. If you have a roommates already in mind - have them sign up with you OR tell them which room you booked into and have them select the other bed. If someone books into that bed you don't know - you can always participate in the Room Change Process and move rooms - it's all flexible!
ROOMMATE SELECTION - follow the prompts and if/when you match - you can go back into the Room Selection
ROOM SELECTION - it's all about the filters and rosters! You can sort by Halls and by Room Types - but IMPORTANT TO NOTE that the room type filters will stay in place until you remove them - tricky! Best Advice is to leave room filter (no type). Check rosters to see who has already selected beds on that hall floor.
BVA 4S are the BVA 4-person apartments
BVA 6S are the BVA 6-person apartments
There is no 'back button' with the next screen - use the drop down menus to switch back between different halls or apartments. Rosters will show as a pop up on your screen and will populate as students select housing.Â
6 Person Suites - remember there are three rooms in each suite and each room has 2 beds!
FINAL STEP - CHOOSE DINING (OPTIONAL)
For students with residence hall assignments, we'll assign you the required All Access plan - you don't need to do anything else. For Juniors/Seniors who are not in a residence hall, you can select from any of the four Hastings Dining plans - dining plans can be changed up to the second week of the semester.Â
